we as Canadians have to come together and force the goverment to do something, they get away with murder, look what they did to that man in vancouver, they killed him we all saw it on the national and what did they get suspended with pay and one of them went on to kill another young man. he the rcmp officer hit the young man on a motor bike and killed him, the officer then left the accident, leaving his two children in the car, he left because he was drunk. and guess what again he was suspended with pay. God i wish someone would punish me like that. should of became a rcmp officer, and every time i wanted a paid vacation all i would of had to do was brake the law. but ya know what i wouldn't want to be a piece of shit like them, really

i hate the rcmp because of what they can get away with, i can't believe in a country like canada, who is always crying about human rights that because you become an rcmp you are above the law and can do what ever you want to others and the punishment is suspended with pay what a joke

Police officers get paid way too much! The average vancouver police officer makes over$100,000/ year after overtime, plus a fat pension, plus benefits... Remember, no education required! Any young person should re-think going to university, after student loans and lost earning years... You are way better off becoming a police officer.

Comment on Is Canada soft on crime? by Dale

The question "Is Canada soft on crime?"

My short answer yes. If you are a victim of serious crime in Canada (I am a victim of childhood sexual abuse), than you would totally know what I'm talking about. In Canada it's the real "shits" to be a victim of crime because it's ALL about the criminal and "their" rehabilitation, basicly very little thought is there for the victim. The punishment given is "only" thinking about the "criminal" not the "victim". It took 16 years to get to court, after I went forward about the phedophile that raped me over 200 times when I was a child. It's in it's 17th year now, and he is out on "bail" awaiting the results of his appeal. Everyone knows he's guilty (he even admitted it in court), yet HE is out on bail, and I'm still serving the life sentence of suffering as a victim of child sexual abuse. If I didn't have children to think about I would leave Canada in a second (I was born here and am a 10th generation). Canada "sucks" when it comes to being a victim of crime, although it's a great place if you are a criminal. Who would want to live in a place that welcomes (is soft on) criminals (besides criminals)?

Of course they lie, I have been stop every once in a while and 2 times they lie, telling me I was following to close and send to traffic school, I was doing 15mph in a school zone and nobody was 1 mile in front of me. And recently they pull me over for a speeding ticket 55/35 and I was doing barely 45 in a 55 road. I ask him to drive back to make sure about the sign and he told me not and if I did not sign the ticket he would arrest me, I went back and it was 55mph road.

You know, I have had a DUI in Florida... And thanks to People like Debra Oberlin... Who want tougher sentences For DUI, I say grant her greatest wish, allow her to serve the sentence she wanted so many others to serve. I have no sympathy for this hypocrite. I would like to however be in the Court Room when the sentence is given. Should the judge make any note on her being a former MADD PRESIDENT... ABSOLUTELY, I would hope he would throw the BOOK AT HER WITH ALL THE HARSHEST PENALTIES.... I MEAN SHE CAN NOT EVEN CLAIM IGNORANCE TO THE LAWS FOR DUI....

Besides demerit points and insurance consequences, many traffic tickets also carry hidden suspensions. It is absolutely important to know the nature of the offence and its penalties before pleading guilty to it.
