Derek is experienced in criminal defense, medical malpractice defense, construction litigation, insurance defense, and personal injury cases like slip and falls and auto/trucking accidents. He is admitted to practice in New York State courts and in the United State District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Derek graduated magna cum laude from Western New Mexico University with his undergraduate degree in History and from Syracuse University College of Law with his Juris Doctor. Derek diversified his experience in law school by spending a year with the Securities Arbitration and Consumer Law Clinic, clerking for the Office of the Federal Public Defender’s Capital Habeas Unit, and serving as the National Student Director for the ABA’S Law Student Division Negotiation Competition. After law school, Derek found himself drawn to the courtroom and the pursuit of justice for those charged with crimes and individuals who have suffered harm due to someone else's negligence. He uses the desire to advocate for the underdog as the basis to be a driven and client-focused lawyer.
