About Kasandra B. Cronin

Kasandra Cronin, Q.C. is a BC Criminal Defence Lawyer who has practiced criminal law exclusively with Terry La Liberté, Q.C. for over 20 years. She regularly appears in all levels of court in this province, and has appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada. Although our offices are based in Vancouver, she regularly travels across the province to assist clients who face criminal charges. Some of the communities where she has conducted trials include Bella Bella, Bella Coola, Smithers, Prince George, Terrace, Kamloops, Kelowna, Quesnel and Williams Lake. In the past she has worked as an Ad Hoc Prosecutor and thus has the unique experience of knowing how the police investigate a case, how the Crown builds a case and therefore, how to defend against that investigation and the case the Crown builds.

Ms. Cronin, Q.C. is active within the legal community, having sat on the Board of Directors for the Elizabeth Fry Society from 2003-2009, assisted West Coast LEAF on the Polygamy Reference case and represented LEAF at the Supreme Court of Canada, sat on the Executive of the Vancouver Criminal Justice Sub-Section of the Canadian Bar Association from 2009-2013, serving as Chair her last year. She also is the Chair and a founding member of the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society (CDAS), a society formed to engage in advocacy, law reform and education in matters related to criminal defence work. Ms. Cronin, Q.C. is a Director with The Association of Legal Aid Lawyers (A.L.L.), an association formed to advocate for enhanced funding for the Legal Services Society. She is regularly asked to speak to law students, has coached competitive trial Moots for the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and was invited by the Minister of Justice to participate in the Provincial Justice Summit as one of four Defence representatives for the Province, and was on the steering committee for the 2019 Justice Summit.

Ms. Cronin, Q.C. graduated in 1993 with honours from the University of California at Berkeley where she started as goalie on the Field Hockey team. She was an Academic All-american and made the All-Norpac Team. In 1998 she graduated with her Law Degree from the University of British Columbia.
