Frank Carbonaro, B.A., J.D., is an associate with Stuffco Law. The main focus of his legal practice is assisting individuals facing criminal and regulatory offences. Frank also handles small claims and other civil litigation matters.
Frank graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2019. During law school, Frank focused on criminal and constitutional law. He completed a number of advanced courses including Advanced Evidence, Advance Criminal Trial Advocacy and Advance Constitutional Law.
Frank also gained a wealth of practical experience while at law school. After his first year in law school, Frank was hired as a caseworker at the Criminal Law Project at Student Legal Services where he represented low-income individuals charged with a wide range of criminal, traffic and regulatory offences. He has further experience representing youth offenders at the Legal Aid Alberta Youth Criminal Defence Office and assisting Gladue report writers in crafting sentencing reports for Aboriginal offenders.
In 2018 Frank worked as a student with Alberta Justice in the Fort Saskatchewan Crown Office where he gained experience prosecuting both criminal and traffic matters. He assisted on serious files including robbery and sexual assault. Frank’s time with Alberta Justice has given him a unique understanding of how Crown prosecutors approach charges, an experience which he uses for his client’s benefit.
In 2020, Frank completed his article under Jordan Stuffco. Throughout his article, Frank assisted on a variety of files including impaired driving, drug trafficking, sexual assault and murder, as well as various civil files. Frank also took on many of his own clients and achieved successful outcomes.
Frank is an active member of the Edmonton community with strong ties to the City. He volunteered for several years with the Inner-City Health and Wellness Program as well as the Bissell Center, an Edmonton inner-city organization that assists vulnerable individuals in the community. He has been a consistent volunteer with Edmonton’s Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization for the past five years.
Prior to attending law school Frank played Junior A hockey with the Spruce Grove Saints and Olds Grizzlys. He attended Ryerson University in 2010 where he played on the Men’s Varsity Hockey team at the Canadian University level. While at university Frank excelled in both academics and athletics and was named an Academic All-Canadian.
