Joleen Hiland grew up in Peterborough and was fortunate enough to return to her hometown upon completion of law school at the University of Ottawa in 2008. Joleen was called to the bar in 2009 and after articling with James Hauraney has been practicing here ever since. Joleen’s focus is criminal law. Joleen has represented clients charged with various offences including but not limited to drug offences (CDSA), domestic-related offences, sexual assault, aggravated assault, fraud, attempt murder and has worked on a range of cases involving offences including first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Joleen is also well-versed in matters pertaining to youths charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act as well as clients who face mental health or substances abuse issues who have encountered the criminal justice system.
