Franklin was called to the bar in 2008. He articled at the Crown’s Office and worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Kenora.
After working as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Kenora, he started his own firm, Franklin Lyons Criminal Defence, and completed his master’s in law part-time at Osgoode Hall Law School. He focused his studies primarily in criminal and constitutional law.
He then went on to work at a top criminal law firm in downtown Toronto for several years where he successfully defended individuals from all walks of life in the Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. He has completed over 200 trials. As an experienced criminal defence lawyer, he has successfully defended clients facing an array of charges including sexual assault, drug offences, driving offences, fraud, robberies, assault, firearms, and much more.
As a former Assistant Crown Attorney, Franklin is familiar with the policies and procedures the Crown will use and knows how to defend against them. He knows how to anticipate the Crown’s strategy, which has successfully led to many acquittals.
