Ismar Horic’s desire to work as a criminal defence lawyer began early in his undergraduate studies while majoring in criminology at the University of Toronto. That desire was reinforced by his experiences as an articling student for one of Canada’s most famous and respected criminal lawyers.
Ismar graduated in 2010 after simultaneously earning a Canadian Bachelor of Laws and an american Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy, respectively. With training in both criminal and corporate law on both sides of the border, Ismar has a keen understanding of a variety of legal issues, and advocates on behalf of clients in an array of complex disputes.
Ismar has appeared before various administrative tribunals and has conducted trials and appeals at all levels of court in Ontario. He has successfully represented clients charged with a variety of criminal offences ranging from driving while impaired to first-degree murder. He has also represented people facing Extradition Act, Income Tax, and Securities Act prosecutions, as well as professional discipline complaints.
He is an active member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and is fluent in Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian.
