Jessica Zita is an appellate associate at Lockyer Campbell Posner. Previously, Jessica worked at another widely recognized Toronto criminal law firm, where she assisted esteemed counsel with managing the firm’s appellate division. She received her Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School, and her Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Toronto.

Jessica has represented clients at all levels of court in Canada, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where she regularly appears, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has acted as counsel in numerous jury trials, having successfully defended clients charged with offences ranging from armed robbery to first degree murder, and was recently appointed as amicus curiae on a dangerous offender hearing by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

During law school, Jessica worked as a judicial extern at the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeal, an intern at Crown Law Office – Criminal, and as an editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy. She is an alumna of Osgoode’s Criminal Law Intensive Program, instructed by the Honourable Justices Rondinelli and Di Luca, and is the recipient of Osgoode’s Babcock Social Justice Award, and the Legal and Literary Society’s Student Honour Award.

Jessica has appeared as a legal commentator on CBC, Law Times, and the former Advocate Daily. She has contributed to The Lawyer’s Daily, the textbook on Criminal Procedure in Canada, and since 2017 to the Supreme Court Law Review, co-authoring its annual criminal procedure summary.

Jessica has served as a recurring guest speaker at the Ontario Justice Education Network’s Courtrooms and Classrooms program, where she educates high school students, and as a judge at a University of Toronto moot competition.
