Myles Anevich is an associate with Hicks Adams LLP, with a practice focused on criminal appeals. Before joining Hicks Adams LLP Myles worked in a boutique criminal defence firm with a mixed practice of trials and appeals. Myles has represented clients at all stages of their criminal matters: spanning from the bail stage, through the preliminary inquiry, trials, and appeals. Myles completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at McGill University before attending law school at the University of Windsor – Faculty of Law. At the University of Windsor, Myles focused his studies on criminal and constitutional law, was a tutorial assistant for the Canadian Constitutional Law class, and clerked for the Honourable Justice Lloyd Dean of the Ontario Court of Justice. Myles completed his articles with the Windsor Crown Attorney’s Office and was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2017. After being called to the Bar Myles attended the LL.M. program at Columbia Law School, where he focused his studies on comparative constitutional law and criminal procedure in Canada and the United States. Myles’s LL.M. thesis “Fighting the Culture of Complacency: A Comparative Analysis of Pretrial Delay Remedies in Canada and the United States”, was selected for publication in the Columbia Law School Diamond Law Library, and has since been published in the Canadian Criminal Law Review (24 Can. Crim L.R. 39).
