12 East Boulder Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado
I graduated from the University of Iowa on an Air Force ROTC scholarship and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on May 14, 1988. I formally entered the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate on Active Duty in 1991 after graduating from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law on the educational delay I was granted.
In 1994, I was transferred to the Office of the Area Defense Counsel (ADC) at Peterson Air Force Base. As an ADC my responsibilities were defending active duty Air Force members and Air Force Academy cadets stationed at Peterson Air Force Base as well as Falcon Air Force Base (now Schriever Air Force Base), Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base and the United States Air Force Academy.
In 1995, i left active duty and joined the Air Force Reserves. It was at that time that I accepted a position with the Office of the District Attorney, Fourth Judicial District (El Paso and Teller Counties) as a Deputy District Attorney. During my time there, I prosecuted cases ranging from drunk driving offenses to homicide. For a time, I was the only Deputy District Attorney working full-time in the Teller County Office in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
In 1997, I left the Office of the District Attorney and started my own practice, now The Bussey Law Firm, P.C., concentrated on criminal defense. I handle clients in state and local courts as well as federal and military courts.
