James earned his B.A. and graduated cum laude and with distinction from the University of Colorado at Denver. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2010.
As a former prosecutor, James has extensive courtroom and trial experience. He conducted numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials, and successfully handled countless criminal matters ranging from first-degree murder, first-degree arson, vehicular homicide, possession and cultivation of marijuana, DUI and domestic violence.
In 2012, James brought his invaluable courtroom and trial experience to his private practice at Susan Fuller & Associates, P.C. Since joining Susan Fuller & Associates, P.C. James has dedicated his practice to litigation with a focus on criminal defense, personal injury, and family law matters. James routinely defends clients facing criminal charges including, but not limited to, DUI/DWAI, Assault, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assaults, and other high level felony crimes.
In each year since 2014, James has been selected by the National Trial Lawyers Association for inclusion into The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 under 40 which is an elite group of the top 40 trial attorneys from the state of Colorado who are younger than the age of 40. Membership into The Top 40 under 40 Association is by invitation only and is extended exclusively to those individuals who exemplify superior qualifications, trial results, and leadership as a young trial lawyer.
Since 2017, James has also been selected by the National Trial Lawyers Association for inclusion into The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 Lawyers for Criminal Defense, which is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state or region who meet stringent qualifications as criminal defense trial lawyers.
In addition, in each year since 2016, James has been selected for inclusion into the Super Lawyers Colorado Rising Stars list.
