Bill Gunter Panama-City Criminal Lawyer

Following high school in Montgomery, Alabama, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served on active duty from 2003-2007 as an infantryman in TOW and Scout Platoons, 2nd Tank Battalion. Bill twice deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2005 and 2006. Following his honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant, Bill took advantage of the G.I. Bill to attend Auburn University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in economics with a minor in history. Bill graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2012 and entered private practice as a litigator in insurance defense.

Eager to expand his horizons, Bill accepted a Staff Attorney position with the State of Alabama's Judicial Inquiry Commission, the agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting judges for ethics violations. During his time with the Judicial Inquiry Commission, Bill learned the intricacies of investigating and prosecuting a case.

After passing the Florida Bar, Bill and his wife, also an attorney, decided to move to Panama City Beach and open their own law firm specializing in Social Security and Veteran’s Disability appeals. However, Bill soon missed the courtroom and transitioned to criminal defense.

During his time as a criminal defense attorney, Bill has defended hundreds of clients facing charges ranging from simple misdemeanors to life felonies. When given the opportunity, Bill eagerly joined the team at Shepard Law to continue his career in criminal defense.
