Mr. Montoye is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and in the Eastern Federal District Courts. He earned his B.S. in History from Eastern Michigan University, where he was a three-year letter winner in Division I Football and was a member of the Honors Program. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI. In law school, he was a Senior Associate Editor of The Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, won a Certificate of Merit in Criminal Procedure, and received the Honors Scholarship, Dean's List Award, and Honor Roll in every term.
During law school, Mr. Montoye clerked for Simon & Geherin PLLC, defended criminal clients as part of the Washtenaw County Public Defender Clinic, and represented elder law clients on a variety of matters through the Elder Law clinic in Lansing. After graduation, Mr. Montoye worked for a prominent Ann Arbor law firm, Fink and Valvo PLLC, and practiced in the areas of criminal defense, civil litigation and landlord-tenant litigation. He has successfully litigated hundreds of criminal and civil cases in courts throughout southeastern Michigan. Mr. Montoye is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, and was an assistant varsity football coach for Chelsea High School. In 2013, Mr. Montoye joined Simon & Geherin, PLLC, where he specializes in state criminal defense, traffic cases, juvenile delinquency matters, and driver's license restoration cases.
