About Margaret Chen Kercher

Margaret Kercher zealously represents her clients and dedicates individualized attention and analysis to each case to provide a strategic defense for her clients. Margaret is a proven trial lawyer. She has tried traffic ticket cases to murder cases.

Margaret discovered her passion to be a lawyer in college when she became a member of the UT-Austin Mock Trial Association. After college, she attended Baylor Law School, which prides itself in its trial advocacy training. In addition to learning the necessary skills and the thought processes of a lawyer, Margaret was able to hone her oral advocacy skills as a member of the Baylor mock trial team and also winning the school's moot court competition (with her now husband as her moot court partner). During that time, she was also a notes and comments editor on the Baylor Law Review and worked on her article regarding the Voting Rights Act.

Right after law school, Margaret spent some time working for a few different civil law firms representing companies, but eventually, she made the decision that helping individuals was her calling. She opened up her own law office, and predominantly, her practice was criminal defense. She has represented and continues to represent clients all around Central Texas in state and federal court. Margaret assists her clients in navigating the criminal justice system from the beginning to the end. Helping clients understand the available avenues they have is part of the job.

She has had the opportunity to be a staff attorney in different specialty courts in Travis County. Most recently, she was a staff attorney in DWI Court in Travis County.

Margaret brings her experience, knowledge, dedication, and attention to her clients' representation.
