About Robert Carroll Pate Jr.

Mr. RC Pate is a criminal defense lawyer and was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He grew up watching his father in trial as both an attorney and later a Judge. After attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Mr. Pate moved to San Antonio to attend Trinity University where he received his BA majoring in both physics and religion while receiving minors in mathematics and philosophy.

After Graduating Trinity University, Mr. Pate stayed in San Antonio for a couple years performing as the house band for the local venue, The White Rabbit. Eventually he entered Law School at the University of Houston. While there, he had clerkships with a Bankruptcy Judge, The Attorney General’s Ofce, and eventually the Texas Supreme Court. He also competed on the University of Houston Mock Trial team where two years in a row his team made it to the Quarter finals of the National Trial Competition, and event that more than 1,000 teams compete in. When he graduated he was awarded the Irvin J Wiener award for his involvement in the school’s only criminal clinic, and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers in recognition of his Trial Advocacy prowess.

While awaiting his bar results he worked for the Nueces County, Kleberg County and Kenedy County District Attorney’s ofces and accepted a position with the Bexar

County District Attorney’s ofce the same day he was licensed to practice law. During this time Mr. Pate focused on learning the trade of criminal representation.

After two and a half years at the DA’s Ofce, Mr. Pate left to found the law office of R Pate, a firm focusing on criminal representation. For a year and a half he was of counsel to a law firm that represented DWI clients almost exclusively. His work has attracted the attention of numerous people. He was honored to be a Judicial Candidate for County Court #14 as well as being named to the SA Scene magazine’s “Rising Stars” of the San Antonio legal community in 2014. He is proudly a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (a National DWI association for attorneys), as well as a member of the TCDLA, SACDLA, and SAYLA.
