119 1st Ave S,, Seattle, Washington
Shira Stefanik was born and raised in Chicago. Itching to explore her world, Shira ran out to the west coast after high school to attend The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. Evergreen’s culture of social activism ultimately led Shira to pursue a legal education at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, where she earned her law degree in 2008. Shira returned to the Pacific Northwest in early 2009 and was admitted to the Washington State Bar. After volunteering at a public defense agency representing indigent clients and learning the ins and outs of the courtroom, she began working with other defense attorneys in the Seattle and greater Puget Sound area on a contract basis, assisting with court appearances, legal briefing, case negotiations, and trials. In 2010, she opened the Law Office of Shira J. Stefanik, and committed to zealously defend the rights of those accused of criminal misconduct. Shira was accepted to attend the National Criminal Defense College, an intensive two week program focused solely on criminal defense trial work. She is an active member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where she regularly participates in continuing legal education seminars to ensure that she is current on changes in the law and emerging defense strategies. She also serves as a co-chair of the Criminal Law Section of the King County chapter of Washington Women’s Lawyers. In her free time, Shira enjoys spending time on the water during sunny days in Seattle, attending music festivals, and watching The Simpsons.
