Mr. Matthews grew up in Austin and attended The University of Texas where he received a journalism degree. From there he began an award-winning career as a television sports anchor in California and Texas, including KXAN-TV in Austin from 1996-2000. After leaving television, Mr. Matthews worked as a media director for Ketchum Public Relations where he trained top corporate executives for Fortune 500 companies. In 2004, Mr. Matthews opened Slipstream Films - a full-service production studio producing documentaries, corporate videos, television commercials and reality shows, working with notable clients such as Nokia, New Balance and Paula Abdul. Mr. Matthews has also taught journalism for the American Forces Television Network.

Mr. Matthews graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. While in law school Mr. Matthews worked in the offices of the United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, the Travis County District and County Attorney and the Travis County Mental Health Public Defender. After law school, Mr. Matthews served multiple counties and clients in the areas of family and criminal law with Hazel Brown Wright Reneau. He is a certified ad litem for cases involving Child Protection Services and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the San Antonio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
